From myspace profile:
The Kilimanjaro : extinct volcano in Northern Tanzania, the highest peak in Africa.
Darkjazz : mysterious, black in shade, liveliness, spirit, excitement.
Ensemble : all the parts of a thing taken together, so that each part is considered only in relation to the whole.
The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble is a weird combination of the organic and the mechanic. Contrary to technophobes' beliefs that a machine has no soul.
Jason Kohnen and Gideon Kiers started T.K.D.E. around 2000, principally as an audio/visual project remixing old movie classics like Murnau's Nosferatu or Lang's Metropolis, leading to a natural progression into producing this clash of organic and mechanic.
Kiers is better known for his work with Telcosystems (www.telcosystems.net) and Jason Kohnen as Bong-Ra (www.bong-ra.com).
T.K.D.E. has been strengthed by the great improvising trombone sounds of Hilary Jeffrey, Charlotte Cegarra on vocals, Nina Hitz on Cello and Eelco Bosman on guitar.Genre:
